Our take

Snuggle-Pedic's shredded gel foam contours around hips, knees and arms, and it's fully washable. Business Insider reports the brand changed hands in 2020 and dropped the trial and warranty older reviews describe. The fill migrates, so expect to fluff it often, and it looks a little lumpy. For most side sleepers trying a body pillow for the first time, it's the value choice.

Pros

  • About half the price of Coop
  • Shredded memory foam contours around hips, knees and arms
  • Fully washable and dryer-safe per CNN Underscored

Cons

  • Fill migrates and needs frequent fluffing (CNN Underscored)
  • Lumpy appearance
  • Cooling claims weaker than lyocell/latex rivals in CNN testing
  • No decorative cover included (extra cost)
  • Warranty unclear: CNN reports 20 years, but Business Insider says the brand dropped its trial and warranty after a 2020 acquisition

What's inside and how it's built

It's a sealed 20 × 54-inch tube of shredded memory foam with a stretchy bamboo-blend shell and no zipper. Amazon's listing describes the fill as shredded gel memory foam and says the pillow is made in the USA and hypoallergenic[1]. When Mattress Clarity reviewed it, the company said the fill is a proprietary mix of several memory foams, left over from cutting larger pieces for mattresses and toppers[2].

The shell is the pillow's only cover. Mattress Clarity lists the fabric, which Snuggle-Pedic calls Kool-Flow, as 43% bamboo viscose, 56.4% polyester and 0.6% Lycra, a soft knit with the brand's logo printed on it[2]. CNN Underscored notes it doesn't come with a separate cover, though most standard body pillow covers fit[3].

You can't open it to change the amount of fill. Unlike Snuggle-Pedic's adjustable head pillows, the body pillow is sealed[2]. That makes it simpler than an adjustable pillow like the Coop, but the thickness you receive is the thickness you get. Amazon's listing puts the weight at 4 pounds[1]. We didn't find a tester who weighed it, so treat that as the seller's figure.

How it feels

Squishy and moldable, with enough body to hold a leg up. CNN Underscored found the foam molded pleasantly around its tester, with “just the right combination of comforting squishiness and support,” and said the feel was similar to the more expensive Bearaby pillow it also tested[3]. Mattress Clarity's Katie Golde found the fill dense enough that it won't fall flat, and had no problem sleeping directly on the textured knit cover[2]. Amazon lists the firmness as soft[1], and our firmness rating sits just below medium.

The look is the main complaint. CNN Underscored called its slightly lumpy feel and appearance the pillow's main downside[3]. Loose foam settles unevenly, so don't expect a smooth, tailored rectangle.

For a side sleeper, the moldable fill is the selling point, because it settles into the gap between your knees and around your arm. Sleep Foundation notes that a firmer body pillow better supports alignment if you drape a leg over it, while a softer one suits hugging[4]. This one sits toward the softer side, so bigger or heavier legs may press it thinner than you'd like at the knee end.

Positioning it for side sleeping

Spoon it: run it down your front, hug the top and rest your top knee on the lower half. That's how Mattress Clarity's tester, then in her third trimester, found it most comfortable. It supported her bump and sat between her knees to keep her hips in line. On other nights she put it behind her for back support[2]. As a straight pillow, it supports one side of you at a time and won't curve around your body.

Mattress Clarity also lists bed space as a downside: it takes up a decent amount of room[2]. On a full mattress, 54 inches wide, each sleeper has 27 inches[5], and a 20-inch pillow alongside you claims most of that. Its tester saw a use for it after the birth too. If you use it while feeding in bed, keep it on your side, away from your baby, and move your baby back to their own sleep space before you fall asleep. The American Academy of Pediatrics says pillows and other soft bedding raise a baby's risk of suffocation and entrapment[6].

Move the foam to where you need it. Because the fill is loose inside the shell, you can push it toward one end. Mattress Clarity noted that you can manipulate the filling inside[2]. Shift more toward the knee end if your top knee drops below your hip. Shift it toward the top if you want a fuller pillow to hug and your knees need less lift. This is the closest you get to adjusting a sealed pillow, and it's worth doing before you decide the thickness is wrong.

Your head pillow still sets your neck height. Our loft guide covers how to size it, and the body pillow guide walks through the full hug-and-knee setup. In late pregnancy, ACOG suggests side sleeping with one or both knees bent, and lists a full-length body pillow as an option for support[7]. A straight pillow covers your front. A U-shape covers your back as well.

Living with shifting fill

Expect to fluff it often. That's the price of loose foam in a sealed shell. CNN Underscored found the fill migrates quite a lot with use and needs continuous manual fluffing, or the pillow looks uneven[3]. Mattress Clarity listed the same thing as a con: it has to be fluffed to keep its loft and firmness[2].

Three habits keep it in shape:

  • Fluff it by hand each morning. Sleep Foundation's method is to hold opposite ends and push them in and out like an accordion, on both the long and short sides. It notes that shredded memory foam may need regular fluffing to keep its loft[8].
  • Use the dryer when it flattens. The care instructions Mattress Clarity published say to put the compressed pillow in the dryer for 10 to 20 minutes on high heat when it arrives, and that a dryer cycle revitalizes it, so you can repeat it every so often[2]. Sleep Foundation suggests adding a tennis ball in a tube sock to break up clumps[8].
  • Redistribute after washing. Move the foam pieces around inside the shell while it dries so everything dries evenly, as Mattress Clarity suggests[2].

If you want a crisp, even shape with little upkeep, look elsewhere, though a fiber pillow won't spare you either: Sleep Foundation says down alternative fill compresses easily and often needs daily fluffing[8].

Washing the whole pillow

The entire pillow goes in the washer and dryer, which is rare for a body pillow. CNN Underscored says it can be washed by hand or in a machine and tumble dried, but not dry-cleaned[3]. Mattress Clarity called it one of the few large pillows it had reviewed that is washable in its entirety[2].

The instructions Snuggle-Pedic gave Mattress Clarity:

  • Wash in cold water on a gentle or delicate cycle. Color-safe hydrogen peroxide bleach is fine for tough stains.
  • Balance the load. A soaked pillow is heavy enough to throw the spin cycle off.
  • Squeeze out excess water before drying to cut the drying time.
  • Start the dryer on low and raise the heat gradually until a cycle takes no longer than a large load of laundry[2].

You'll need a machine large enough to fit it, and drying takes a while[2]. Because there's no zip-off cover, every wash is a whole-pillow wash. Business Insider's advice applies here: put a protector or pillowcase on it so you clean the pillow itself less often, and use a large-capacity washer and dryer[9]. Mattress Clarity notes Snuggle-Pedic sold its own zippered cover separately[2], and a standard body pillow case also fits[3].

Is it actually cooling?

Less than its marketing suggests, in CNN Underscored's comparison. Amazon's listing describes a breathable, cooling fill that helps regulate your temperature[1]. CNN's tester found the Buffy and Bearaby body pillows more effective at keeping cool, crediting their materials[3]. Those two use a lyocell shell and an organic cotton cover[3]. Sleep Foundation's general point applies: memory foam tends to trap heat, while fiber, latex and down are usually more breathable[4].

Shredded foam lets air move more freely than a solid block, a point Sleep Foundation makes about Coop's cross-cut fill[4]. But you're still hugging a large foam pillow against your chest and legs. If you run hot, put a cotton or lyocell case on it, which also solves the washing problem above. CNN's tester did the same with the Coop, covering it with a 100% cotton case for breathability[3]. Our cooling guide covers the rest of the bed.

Warranty, returns and who makes it now

Some reviews report a 20-year warranty. Treat it as unconfirmed. CNN Underscored says the maker offers a 20-year warranty covering loss of support in the foam[3]. Mattress Clarity's product summary lists 120-day returns and a 20-year limited warranty, and names the maker as Relief-Mart, Inc., with Snuggle-Pedic as its subsidiary[2]. Its review dates from 2018 and has since been updated.

Business Insider's 2026 body pillow guide tells a different story. Snuggle-Pedic was once its top pick for side sleepers, but its research found the brand had been acquired in 2020 and no longer offered the trial period or warranty they had liked. A retested pillow also differed from the one tested in 2020, so Business Insider dropped it[9]. Mattress Clarity also describes the company re-sealing pillows with more or less fill on request[2]. Given the change of ownership, don't count on that service either.

Buy it on terms you can check today. On Amazon, most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery in original or unused condition, and Amazon can charge up to 50% of the price for a return with obvious signs of use[10]. A slept-on pillow may not earn a full refund, so treat it as a purchase you'll probably keep. Business Insider's note that the current version differs from the one it first tested is the main reason for caution.

Snuggle-Pedic vs other body pillows we've reviewed

It's the middle option: foam feel and full washability without paying for adjustability.

  • Coop Adjustable Body Pillow: CNN Underscored's top pick lets you add or remove fill, has a zip-off cover and held its shape without constant fluffing[3]. Coop says its body pillow is too big for a standard washer, though[11]. Pay more for it if you want to set the thickness and do less fluffing.
  • Utopia Bedding Body Pillow: polyester fiber at a lower price, spot-clean or hand-wash only, with lumps that need fluffing after a few nights in Business Insider's test[9]. Choose it to try the idea cheaply. Choose the Snuggle-Pedic if you want something you can wash and a moldable foam feel.
  • Queen Rose U-shaped: a U-shape gives consistent support as you flip from one side to the other, but takes more of the bed[12]. It suits late pregnancy better than a straight pillow if you want support behind you as well.

Skip the Snuggle-Pedic if you hate fluffing, want a smooth shape on a made bed, need a warranty you can confirm, or sleep hot and won't add a cotton cover.

Frequently asked questions

Can you add or remove fill from the Snuggle-Pedic body pillow?

No. Unlike Snuggle-Pedic's adjustable head pillows, the body pillow is sealed[2]. You can push the loose foam toward one end, which lets you make the knee end or the hug end thicker.

Can you put the whole Snuggle-Pedic body pillow in the washing machine?

Yes. It can be machine or hand washed and tumble dried, but not dry-cleaned[3]. Wash it cold on a gentle cycle in a machine big enough to balance it, and dry it starting on low heat[2].

Does the Snuggle-Pedic body pillow come with a cover?

No. Its knit shell is the only cover, and there's no zipper. Most standard body pillow covers fit[3], and adding one means you wash the pillow itself less often.

Does the Snuggle-Pedic body pillow still have a 20-year warranty?

It's unclear. CNN Underscored and Mattress Clarity report a 20-year warranty[3,2], but Business Insider found the brand was acquired in 2020 and no longer offers a trial period or warranty[9]. Rely on your retailer's return policy.

Why does my Snuggle-Pedic body pillow look lumpy?

The loose shredded foam migrates inside the sealed shell. CNN Underscored found it needs regular fluffing to look even[3]. Fluff it by hand, or give it a short dryer cycle[2].

Is the Snuggle-Pedic body pillow good for pregnancy?

It can be. Mattress Clarity's tester used it in her third trimester, spooning it so it supported her bump and sat between her knees[2]. Being straight, it supports only your front or your back at one time. See our body pillow guide for U and C shapes.
